  • There was a total of 3,666 residential Housing sales throughout New Zealand during January 2010 compared with 3,706 in January 2009 and 4,957 sales in December 2009. The January ten year average for the Number of Sales is 6,163.  It took an average of 43 days to sell a dwelling in January 2010 compared with 59 days in January 2009 and 33 in December 2009. The January five and ten year averages for the Median Number of Days to Sell are 45 and 45 respectively. The national Median Sale Price in January 2010 was $350,000 compared with $325,000 in January 2009 and $360,000 in December 2009.
  • During the past six months there has been a total of 33,112 sales. This compares with 25,475 for the same period last year and 37,762 for the previous year. During the past twelve months there has been a total of 69,589 sales. This compares with 54,591 for the same period last year and 89,721 for the previous year.
  • During the past six months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 35, compared to 50 for the same period last year and 37 for the previous year. During the past twelve months the median number of Days to Sell has averaged 40, compared to 50 for the same period last year and 33 for the previous year.
