Queenstown

Founded in 1862, Queenstown is a resort town built around an inlet of Lake Wakatipu. Originally a farming and gold-mining town, Queenstown is now known for its commercial tourism activities, and has four-seasons appeal. The centre of Queenstown consists of a few streets tightly-packed with tourism operators, restaurants, souvenir shops, bars, cafes and outdoor pursuits retailers. Everything’s within easy walking distance, including the iconic Skyline Gondola which takes visitors up to the top of Bob’s Peak, overlooking the town.

Due in part to the ever-changing population, the town centre has extremely sought-after housing. There’s ample property within walking distance of town, with residences ranging from holiday apartments, family homes, cabins to rental properties occupied by multiple tenants.

Prices in the town centre prove consistently strong, in particular for properties with sought-after zoning and the ability to build more than one unit onsite. House prices remain largely immune to the area’s seasonal trends, with high tenancy demand and consistent returns.
