Lakefront living

Situated across from the azure waters of Lake Wakatipu, this modern Glenorchy home occupies what must be one of the most sought-after sites in the township. The elevation the property enjoys ensures privacy for the substantial home completed in 2011 and the position guarantees that intimate views of the lake and on to the Humboldt Mountains in the distance are yours to be enjoyed for the long term.

The home is generously proportioned with four double bedrooms and flowing living spaces with large windows and high ceilings to maximise the sun and light. Local schist rock cladding to much of the exterior of the home creates a timeless appeal and feeling of permanence.

The home's position and views cry out for use as visitor holiday accommodation by an astute owner wanting to capitalise on the record tourist numbers to the wider Southern Lakes area. Alternatively, just enjoy your own holiday stays or long term family living in a township that can still be considered an idyllic New Zealand lakeside hideaway, and yet right on the doorstep of the resort town of Queenstown.

• 255sqm, four bedroom, two bathroom home with large living spaces and oversize double garage on 1024sqm section
• Excellent lake and mountain views from elevated and private position
• Log burner with wetback plus multi-fuel fired boiler for under-floor and radiator heaters
• Glenorchy is a 40 minute scenic drive from Queenstown and on the doorstep of a World Heritage Area

Glenorchy

A settlement at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu, Glenorchy offers a lifestyle like no other. On the doorstep of national parks including Fiordland and Mt Aspiring, Glenorchy is home to just 400-500 people. Sitting approximately 45km from Queenstown by road, it’s a scenic lakeside drive that’s well worth the trip.

Glenorchy has enough facilities to cater to the tourist and resident population, with a couple of pubs, a café, petrol station and a range of small shops. An airstrip provides thrills for holidaymakers as well as convenience for local hunters and fisherpeople wanting to access the outdoors.

The famed Routeburn Track starts a short distance from Glenorchy, as do other notable trails including the Caples, Greenstone and Rees-Dart. Popular local and tourist activities include fishing, horse riding, jet boating, canyoning, skydiving, skiing, and boating.

The township is host to a collection of homes of varying ages including recent builds, plus further out along the Paradise Road are larger landholdings and lifestyle properties.
